Summer Sunday Sounds Seaside Concert Series feat. Camila Lima

Sunday, August 21, 2022 , 5:30pm-7:30pm Join us for our Summer Sunday Sounds concert series! These free concerts take place over the summer months and are open to everyone! Bring your own picnic and join us at 5:30 before the show starts at 6:30. No tickets or reservations are required and seating is provided. Our final concert of the summer features Camila Lima, a talented American/Argentinean soprano, accompanied by pianist and composer Ruy Folguera. Camila made her debut as Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata in Spain, and since then has starred in several operas and zarzuelas in Europe and United States. About Camila Lima She has sung at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles and at the Carnegie Hall in New York. She was the winner of alternate First Prize at the 2018 international New York Lyric Opera Competition and a winner at the Beverly Hills National Audition in 2018 and 2019. In 2019 she sang the role of The Dutchess at the world premiere of Dulcinea XL, by Spanish composer Juan J. Colomer, conducted by Maestro Ignazio Terrasi. She also performed the Misatango by Palmeri as soloist with Angeles Chorale, conducted by John Sutton. Also in 2019, she starred as Juliette in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette with Pacific Lyric Association at the Escondido Center for the Arts. In 2022, Ms. Lima sang the role of Papagena, from Mozart’s Magic Flute, with Lyric Opera of Orange County, and was invited to perform as a soloist with South Coast Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Barry Silverman. Later this year, she will be performing the lead role in The Tree, an opera composed by Peter Wing Healey, at the Highland Park Ebell Club.

Ruy Folguera is a Los Angeles based composer whose scores can be heard on a diverse array of films such as “Rush Hour I, II & III”, “Picking Up the Pieces” (2000) starring Woody Allen and Sharon Stone, “The Magnificent Ambersons” (2002) featuring Jonathan Reese Meyers and Madeleine Stowe, “The Day the Earth Stood Still” (2008) reprising his collaboration with Keanu Reeves, “Nina” (2016), a biopic on Nina Simone starring Zoe Saldana and David Oyelowo, and many more. As a producer, performer and arranger, Ruy Folguera has worked with legends of the music scene, including David Coverdale of “Whitesnake” and Mike Patton of “Faith No More”, Roberta Flack and Chaka Khan, Colin Hay of “Men At Work” and Engelbert Humperdink, Neal Schon of “Journey” and Japanʼs superstar Yazawa. He is currently performing live locally with singer Camila Lima and his newest participation in film is “One night in Miami”.
